Gary Johnson of Aspire Driving Excellence will be talking about “How to write and present a good 60 seconds“
This weeks subject is about the weekly 60 second presentation
I aim to give you ideas to improve your 60 seconds
The ideas I am going to tell you about are not my own, they come from a Presentation Skills course I did, best advice from BNI and from other people with a lot more experience than me in giving presentations.
1. Doing presentations is all about acting – you:
- Write the script
- Learn the words
- Rehearse the night before
- Act out the play on a Thursday morning
- When did you last see an actor on stage with script?
- Try not to read from an A4 sheet ‘Friends Romans…
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him;
The evil that men do lives after them,
The good is oft interred with their bones,
So let it be with Caesar …
Use notes on small sheets that are unobtrusive that you can refer to if you need to prompt yourself.
2. When you do your script its vital that your aim is “By the end of this 60 seconds the audience will have changed the way that they think about you/your business and the way that they think about your goods and services.”
- In your script make sure that you have key words to communicate your message (e.g. quality, thorough, attention to detail, caring, efficient, professional etc)
- don’t forget to mention your business name lots of times.
3. Connect with the audience with eye contact and body language – using your hands and the way you stand..
4. Change the aim each week so that people sit up and listen for the new news you are about to tell them. One idea is to have pre-prepared scripts for each of your USPs products and services and rotate them.
The structure of your script can be as shown on this Target Grid.
Improving your 60 seconds will change the way people think about your important because
I hope that I have given you ideas on how to improve your 60 seconds and that you can actually use them.
