Education Slot Thursday 6th May 2010 (General Election Day)

Chris Groom of CalverGroom Financial Management supplied the education slot for this week, the day of voting for a new government.

Role of the Secretary/Treasurer

You need to support the Chapter Director in his or her efforts to grow the chapter, which helps by having monthly leadership team meetings.

The role of Secretary/Treasurer itself is not too LABOUR intensive.

The key really is to be CONSERVATIVE with the chapter funds, ensuring there is enough in the bank to pay for the weekly breakfasts and room hire.
This involves occasionally PARTLY going GREEN chasing members for their weekly dues, which we actually collect by standing order each month. You need to check the bank statement each month to make sure everyone has paid.

When it comes time for a member to renew their membership you need to be LIBERAL with your encouragement, helping them to complete the paperwork and getting a cheque or credit card details as payment. The Membership Co-ordinator records the renewal and discusses it with the membership committee. If approved it is sent off to Canterbury.
