Part of the BNI Commitment – Attendance

Commitment shows up more in your actions than your words.   For BNI members, it is important to realise that among the many characteristics required to win the trust and referrals of others, commitment is among the most important.

When truly committed, you don’t have to tell people—they’ll figure it out through their interactions with you. When you are not, words won’t convince people otherwise.

For the BNI, one of the biggest commitments is Attendance.
You need to attend your weekly BNI meeting, even when it’s not convenient. Paying for a membership to a health club and not using it is your business. Paying for a BNI membership and not attending meetings is each member’s business. We are in this together.

The majority of the time, you will know whether or not you will be able to attend BNI on a Thursday morning.  So, if you are not going to be able to attend, arrange a substitute.  Its not difficult, there are a number of regular subs listed on the Chapter sheets, but failing that, contact members of other local BNI Chapters who don’t conflict with any of the trades here.  If they are BNI members anyway, the chances are they will be keen to visit a different chapter because they know they might get some business from it.  So where possible, plan ahead!  If you know you are not going to be able to attend next Thursday – there is no use leaving it until Tuesday before even thinking about who you will ask to Sub for you.

If you have a Sub, it means that we are all still reminded about what you do, it means we know that you are still committed to the group and so we will know that we can be confident in referring you to our own clients.

And, don’t forget that if you fail to attend and don’t arrange a sub – you will lose points for your team in the BNI Game!

As you know, you can also gain extra points in the game for being early.  But being early is not just about extra points, it also means that you will get the chance to network with your fellow members or perhaps with visitors and this could lead on to more work for you… after all, that is the reason we all attend each week!
